Angakusajaujuq: The Shaman’s Apprentice
I am so proud to have been a part of Zacharias Kunuk’s animated short film which has been winning awards around the world – and is now short-listed for the Oscars! The film was produced by Kingulliit Productions, Taqqut Productions & the great people at Stop Motion Department.
An animated adaptation of an Inuit traditional story, from the North Baffin region. The Shaman’s Apprentice tells the story of a young shaman in training who must face her first test-a trip to the underground to visit Kannaaluk, The One Below, who holds the answers to why a community member has become ill.
I was the lead puppet builder, crafting the main stop motion characters and designing & building the animal puppets. Here are some cool images of that work.
